Andy Fortgang and Sergio Licea open Flor Wines in Portland, Oregon → Friends and colleagues note that they will remember Tanguay for his generosity, passion for life, and big, infectious personality. In 2015, he co-authored the book A Lime and a Shaker: Discovering Mexican-Inspired Cocktails. Together with business partner Tad Carducci, Tanguay created the beverage consulting company Tippling Bros., where he co-owned and operated bars and restaurants, sat on judging panels, and created beverage programs across the country. Tanguay gained a sommelier accreditation through the American Sommelier Association and became one of the top sake experts in the U.S., helping form the Sake Education Council. He eventually gravitated towards the beverage side of hospitality, particularly as the corporate beverage director for SushiSamba, where he was one of the first to introduce sake and craft cocktails to consumers.

Over the more than 35 years of his career, Tanguay immersed himself in every aspect of the hospitality business. Tanguay passed away in his sleep on November 20.
